DAVE MUSTAINE's Bullet Belt Being Auctioned
October 20, 2008Up for auction at the MEGADETHeBay store is the bullet belt (see photos below) that MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine wore on tour and various video shoots, including the classic "Holy Wars". According to a posting on the MEGADETH web site, "the belt is made from polished .223 ammo and is not live 'so do not use it in a fire fight because you will lose.' The belt can be shortened if needed. When Dave would start a tour it would be one size and by the end of the tour it would have to be taken down in size due to weight loss. Belt is not signed as it is hard to sign a bullet."
According to a posting on MEGADETH's official web site, the band's forthcoming DVD will contain a complete concert recorded on May 20, 2008 at the Cox Arena in San Diego during this year's Gigantour. The other acts on the bill — IN FLAMES, CHILDREN OF BODOM, JOB FOR A COWBOY and HIGH ON FIRE — were apparently offered a chance to be part of the DVD but declined.
MEGADETH will embark on the "Priest Feast" European tour with headliners JUDAS PRIEST and openers TESTAMENT in February 2009.
The band's new CD is being helmed by acclaimed British producer Andy "Undie" Sneap, who produced MEGADETH's last album, "United Abominations" (May 2007, Roadrunner Records).
MEGADETH's forthcoming LP will be the group's first with guitarist Chris Broderick (NEVERMORE, JAG PANZER),who replaced Glen Drover at the end of last year.
MEGADETH's "Anthology: Set The World Afire" (Capitol/EMI) career-spanning 2-CD and digital collection sold around 2,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
